Facebook is winning the battle for social media site users in New Zealand.
Facebook is being visited by 76.1% of web users aged 18+.
This indicates more than 2.43 million adult New Zealanders are visiting Facebook in any 30 day period.
Facebook is followed by U Tube with 61.6%, according to a survey of 967 New Zealanders by Horizon Research. The survey is weighted to represent the national population aged 18+. The maximum margin of error is +/- 3.2%.
Conducted in July and August 2011, the survey also finds 36.9% are using Skype, 18.7% Yahoo Live, Twitter 11.4%. Windows Live Spaces has 9%, Bebo 3.5%.
The mainly business professional social networking service, Linked In, attracts 11.4%.
There is a close race between the political blog sites: Right-leaning Kiwiblog has 7.3%, the left leaning The Standard 6.4%.
