Latest research finds readership of newspaper property sections trailing the specialist magazine Property Press.
Property Press is being read by 1,296,500 New Zealanders each month.
This puts the magazine ahead of daily and local newspapers' print section readerships.
That’s equivalent to 42% of the total 18+ population.
It is an increase of 39,400 readers compared with results of a June 2016 readership survey, conducted by Horizon Research.
Within the 14 areas where Property Press publishes it is reaching 45% of New Zealanders 18+ every month – 913,500 people, up 2% on June 2016. Of the 45% it reaches, 49% are weekly readers – up from 45% in June 2016.
Property Press’ monthly reach is now above that of the real estate sections of daily newspapers and local community newspapers (See graph above).
The number of people passing Property Press to others in their households to read has also risen by 55,000 more than in June last year.
Respondents who read Property Press in the past week continue to be more interested in the residential property market, on average, than those who read other print options.
As in the previous 7 surveys, respondents in Property Press areas who are definitely looking to buy in the next 12 months see it as more essential and important than any other property print media option.
Some 60% of buyers rate Property Press as either essential or important. The percentage rating it as “essential” is two and a half times higher than the percentage who rate real estate sections of daily newspapers as “essential” and 84% higher than the percentage who rate real estate sections of local community newspapers as “essential”.
